FAG insulated bearings Electric current can damage rolling bearings in machine tools under sandy conditions. Discharge marks and grooves in the raceways can cause early bearing failure. This danger can be prevented by implementing effective insulation measures between the bearing enclosure and the race or between the shaft and the bearing. FAG insulated bearings use plasma spraying technology to coat the outer diameter and end face of the outer ring or the end face of the inner ring and inner diameter of the bearing with an oxide ceramic coating. The coating is hard, wear-resistant and resistant to high currents. Due to the use of special sealants, the hardness of the alumina coating is excellent, waterproof and thermally conductive, and the insulated bearings are also suitable for wet working environments. The dimensions, tolerance classes, and accuracy of insulated bearings are strictly interchangeable with standard bearings. In insulated bearings, there is a 100μm-thick coating on the outer or inner ring surface and can withstand voltages up to 1000 V DC. FAG Process Insulated Bearings offer four types, deep groove ball bearings and cylindrical roller bearings, respectively: J20B suffix: withstand voltage up to 500V, outer ring coating J20A suffix: withstand voltage up to 1000V, outer ring coating > 200μm, provide products in the range of 70-1400mm; J20AA suffix: can withstand 1000V voltage, outer ring coating ≈ 200μm, provide products in the range of 70-500mm; J20C suffix: can withstand 1000V voltage, inner ring coating ≈ 200μm, provide bearing products in the range of 70-340mm.
